The GHF Board of Directors oversees fund-raising and the implementation of the Foundation’s mission. The foundation has up to 18 members and three ex-officio members, who represent the Department of Cultural Affairs; the Office of Protocol, City of Los Angeles; and the Department of Recreation and Parks.
One of the major goals of the Board is to ensure that future generations of Angelenos have access to Getty House. In addition to the preservation of the physical house and its gardens, the Foundation takes responsibility for maintaining the archives. In doing so, the story of Getty House and the work of the Foundation are preserved and passed on to future generations. The Foundation counts on the Center for the Study of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University, the Los Angeles Conservancy, and the Historical Society of Southern California, among others, for their expertise and professional resources.
The generous gift that the Getty Oil Company gave to the City of Los Angeles has realized its potential. Today Getty House is a center of civic pride and a symbol of our city.
